From Surf BOP: “The December Rescue of the Month is awarded to Hot Water Beach Regional and Volunteer lifeguards: Chris, Logan, Gary, Andre, Ashleigh, Peter and Paloma. These guards have been awarded for their mass rescue of five adults during unpredictable and dangerous conditions.
“During this rescue the skill sets of each guard were practically applied to responsibilities throughout the incident. This included Peter, (a newly qualified lifeguard of one week) performing a single tube rescue and Chris (Regional Head Guard) with the remaining four victims on his rescue board awaiting further tube swimmers. This rescue demonstrated the impulsive and frequent unpredictability of Hot Water Beach, and above all it demonstrated a very well executed patrol team response and support for each other.”
